5 Ways to
Create PDF

PDF is ideal for pulling graphics and documents out of source applications. Using Visual Integrity software you can then turn these PDF files into the format required for your documentation, publishing and data management needs.

PDF input can be created from any application in a number of ways:

  1. Use Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Professional
  2. Print to Acrobat Distiller
  3. Use a reliable 3rd-party PDF writer or printer drivers
  4. Output PDF directly from your source application or database if it is supported
  5. Create PDF from data by using FOP to transform XML to PDF

PDF

PDF is the Portable Document Format developed by Adobe® for platform and application independent exchange, viewing and printing of digital documents. Using Adobe Acrobat® technology and an increasing variety of other software solutions, PDF files can be created from virtually any source application or database. PDF files can handle long, composite documents as well as raster images and complex vector graphics. It has become ubiquitous and a de facto standard across  every industry.

Often, recipients of PDF files need to reuse the information contained in these files. Visual Integrity products are designed to digest the PDF and produce output files of the highest standard which can be opened and edited in most applications including office software, publishing systems and engineering applications.

Visual Integrity offers several different types of products for converting PDF files. Choose the one that's right for you and then learn more:

pdf2image - converts any PDF file into your choice of image formats for the web or your office documents - GIF, PNG and JPEG.

pdf2picture - produces scalable picture files (WMF) which can be ungrouped and edited in Microsoft Office and other Windows applications which support drawing features.

pdf2cad - generated editable CAD files from PDF pages. Once these files are opened in your engineering software, they can be modified or annotated.

PDF FLY - if you need to convert more that one file at a time or need more than one output format. PDF FLY is for you, Choose multiple files or directories and then convert to your choice of 13 different standard vector and bitmap output formats. PDF FLY is a consolidation of products previously known as ps2vector, pdf2vector, ps2bitmap, pdf2bitmap, ps2text and pdf2text.

FLY Batch - Automate your PDF conversions using the simple command-line interface. Use the fine-tuning controls to obtain a high degree of control over the final output.

FLY SDK - Use the API or Windows DLL to integrate support for viewing, importing and exporting vector and bitmap formats into your applications.

Godwin Pumps receives mechanical parts drawings from vendors in PDF file format for their technical documentation. Their drafters regularly need to use these in AutoCAD for assembly into larger drawings but AutoCAD does not support PDF import. They use pdf2cad to convert the drawings into editable AutoCAD files.

AutoZone, the nation's leading retailer of automotive parts and accessories, produces formatted database reports in the PDF format which contain tables, charts and other page layout elements. Internal users need to receive the reports as PowerPoint slides for viewing, editing and presentation. AutoZone deployed FLY Server on AIX to batch convert the reports from PDF to WMF to automate production of PowerPoint presentations.

Taxact is a popular on-line tax filing system. In order to provide acurate and reliable service with tax returns, it was necessary to incorporate IRS forms and publications which were only available in the PDF format. To enable viewing, printing and light authoring of those documents as part of their Windows application, they used PDF FLY to batch convert them into Windows Metafiles (WMF).
