Founded in 1993 in The Netherlands as Square One bv, we have long been a driving force in the development of technologies to transform visual content into formats for publishing, archival and the Internet. With offices in The Netherlands and the USA, we serve customers and business partners around the world. Our customer list is comprised of well-respected companies in aerospace, defense, semiconductors, life sciences, finance, publishing, AEC and Manufacturing.

As a result of strong growth, in 2003, we created a special division within Square One called Visual Integrity so that we could focus better on both the satisfaction of our current customers and the evolving requirements of the market as a whole. Our products and solutions benefit from early industry experience and a strong vision for visual content management and reuse. Through pioneering work on formats such as SVG, we're helping the industry lead the way for superior and scalable vector graphics to become prevalent on the Web and wireless devices.

By basing our technological advancements on vector-based formats, we have developed a unique set of powerful, extensible and robust tools for end-users and developers alike. Vector formats are intelligent, scalable and ideal for many applications. As we move forward, the need becomes ever greater for organizations to find a bridge between visual content on their technical, legacy and publishing systems. We've already built a strong foundation: a family of graphics conversion tools, based on the universal and robust input formats. What was once a simple suite of end-user tools when first released in 1995, today plays a critical role in enterprise process and workflow automation, content management and integration of import/export filters into commercial and enterprise applications.

Visual Integrity software is helping desktop publishers, web developers, engineers, scientists and many others, across Unix, Linux and Windows platforms, transform their visual content reliably and efficiently. Solutions range from handy desktop file converters to an API which allows full integration of the conversion engine into a software application. More and more, our high-end solutions are relied on by companies to automate batch conversion processes and to build new software applications.

The excellence of our core software technology and our focus on the customer have lead to a worldwide customer list that reads like a "Who's Who" of international business. In addition to a score of Fortune-500 companies, Square One is also proud to serve many smaller companies, government institutions, universities and research labs.

Management

Square One today is still led actively by its two founders :

Jean Haney (American, based in Norwalk CT), managing director and co-founder, has more than 23 years experience in the software industry gained at AT&T, Informix, Island Graphics and Secure Computing and in the past 13 years with Visual Integrity. 17 years have been spent working in international markets including Europe and Asia and as a resident of The Netherlands. Areas of expertise: marketing, business management, strategic development.

Jan Homan (Dutch, based in Noordwijk, The Netherlands), technical director and co-founder, has over 23 years experience in software development. In the past, he has worked in senior development positions at both at Océ and Island Graphics. He has developed many graphics technologies and applications including IslandPresents, an award-winning, 3-time product of the year and the first of its kind on a graphical UNIX workstation. He is the inventor and chief architect of the Visual Integrity software line.

Square One operates a second business unit for customers in The Netherlands and Belgium: Square One Solutions, specializing in server-based computing solutions.
